Nominate a global keynote speaker for World IA Day 2023

The Global Planning committee is gathering a candidate list of speakers to consider for the WIAD23 Global Keynote.

Step 1: Gather speaker nominations from organizers, community advisors, and global board (2 weeks)

At this time, we are collecting names and keynote topic directions. It’s not yet expected that people confirm their interest and availability, but it’s okay if you get in touch with them. We want to know who you think might be a good keynote speaker.

Step 2: Determine a short list (week of Sept 12)

The global planning committee will review the keynote candidates during board meetings in mid-September and come up with a shortlist.

We will contact the shortlist of speakers to confirm their interest and availability. If they are interested, the shortlist of keynote speakers will also submit a talk proposal at this time.

Step 3: Identify the global keynote speaker (early October)

The global planning committee will have a vote on each of the keynote candidate’s talk proposals and vote on the proposal’s impact, value, and relevancy.

A global keynote should be announced publicly by early November.

This nomination form closes 14 September 2022 at 11:59 pm UTC-7. If you have any questions or feedback, please email [email protected].

Who are you nominating?

Whether you’re nominating yourself or someone you feel would be excellent to speak to this year’s theme, let’s start with the basics.

What’s their name?

No worries on getting this correct. When we contact them, we'll confirm how they want their name to be presented, pronounced, and spelled.
The order of one’s name depends on cultural context. How should their name be presented?

Tell us about the person you're nominating

Why are you nominating them?

Why do you feel that they would be a good global keynote candidate on next year’s World IA Day theme “Orientation & Wayfinding”?

Previous speaking experience

Have they spoken at World IA Day before? Where else have they spoken before? Provide links to any talks they’ve given. These will be helpful for us to get a sense of their speaking style.

What country are they based in?

Where are they located? This gives us an idea for location and timezone scheduling.

What languages are they comfortable speaking in?

The talk itself can be in any language; however, the Q&A should probably be in English or Spanish or at least a language where there is good live transcription.

No worries on getting this correct. When we contact them, we'll confirm their comfort level in spoken languages.
