This is the third course in the WIAA Information Architecture Certificate Program. This pilot cohort is free, intentionally small, and run as a working group rather than a course; your feedback will directly shape how we run the program in 2027.
Before you fill this out:
- Four weeks, with one live 90-min session per week via Google Meet, plus about 2–3 hours of readings, discussion, and a hands-on project you apply to your own work.
- Live sessions are not recorded during the pilot. Showing up is part of the experience, and part of what makes a small cohort work, so please enroll only if you can attend.
- No prior IA experience needed. Foundations assumes you're starting fresh and builds the shared vocabulary the later courses rely on.
- Completing the course earns a certificate for IA for Search, AI, and Emerging Technologies. Complete all three courses and you earn the full IA Certificate from the World IA Association.
- Enrolling is a commitment. Seats are limited, so we ask you to agree to attend the live sessions and complete the work.
Registration takes about 5 minutes. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
As you'd like it to appear on your certificate.
So instructors can address you correctly in sessions.
We'll send your confirmation, syllabus, and class invitation here. Please use an email address linked to a Google account, as our live sessions and classroom resources are hosted on Google and require it for access.
Optional, but it helps us shape sessions and feedback around what the group wants. Review the
course outline for what we'll cover.
Assignments work best applied to something you care about — a website, an app, a physical space, or a product. You don't need to decide now.
For example, captions, materials in advance, or scheduling considerations. We'll do our best to support you.
This pilot depends on a small, committed group, and the live sessions aren't recorded so attendance is important. By enrolling, you agree to:
- Attend the live sessions (missing more than one of four means no certificate)
- Come prepared: review the syllabus and readings before each session
- Complete the weekly assignments and final project
Our project-based assignments ask for specific, personal examples. If we have questions about a submission, we may ask you to redo it with a new example.
We issue digital badges you can add to LinkedIn, a portfolio, or a website. We'll only send you one with your consent.
